Memorial Day Services Honoring Our Fallen Heroes

The Patrick M. Goble American Legion Post 974 and the Highland Lakes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6974 are hosting Memorial Day Services in honor of our fallen heroes. The Public is invited to participate in all activities. The VFW ceremony starts at 8 am at Post Mountain Cemetery at 321 Southland Drive, Burnet with laying of wreaths and flags at the grave sites of veterans interned at this cemetery. The American Legion services will take place at the Burnet City Cemetery located at 600 Cemetery Street (end of S. Rhomberg Street) at 10 am. A wreath will be laid at the grave site of Private First Class Patrick M. Goble, USMC, who died while serving in Vietnam. Full military honors will be rendered by the Highland Lakes Honor Guard and American Legion Color Guard. A flag retirement ceremony will take place at the VFW Hall at 1402 Buchanan Drive at 12 noon. The Public is encouraged to bring their unserviceable flags for honorable disposal. Light refreshments will be served after the flag retirement ceremony.
