The next Highland Lakes Native Plant Society Zoom meeting/presentation will be on Sat. March 20, 1:00 -3:00. The public is invited to join the free one hour presentation which will be followed by a business meeting.
The presentation will include: How to make your home safer from wildfire and increase your home’s chance of surviving a wildfire. How to plan your landscaping and yard maintenance to reduce fire risk. Why landscaping with native plants is best for reducing risk and improving wildfire outcomes.
The speaker will be Alex Bregenzer with the Texas A&M Forest Service, covering 27 counties within Central Texas. Alex provides a wide range of services to the public, including educational programming on prevention, preparedness, and mitigation in regards to wildland fire. His current focus is on delivering Firewise USA preparedness programs to better prepare for this coming fire season. This includes preparedness programs that address various risk factors to improve fire resistance within communities.
Alex graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelors in Renewable Natural Resources & Ecological Restoration and is currently working on his Masters in Fire Ecology & Management.
