DESCRIPTION:Highland Lakes Quilt Guild (HLQG) invites you to our March 20th program\, “Painting with Scraps”\, featuring the talented Allie McCathren\, a unique art quilter and creator of the Exhausted Octopus.  Come see for yourself how McCathren’s background in marine biology has inspired her seaglass quilts which are constructed of cloth scraps mimicking bits of broken glass tumbled by the sea. Each of her quilts reveal a story with her use of brilliant colors\, humorous fabric prints and thread-art quilting.  McCathren writes\, “I am all about using scraps whenever possible\, and I love playing with texture and color to create interesting art pieces.”\nHLQG membership meetings and programs are scheduled from 9:30 am – Noon\, every third Wednesday of the month in the Fellowship Hall at the First Methodist Church of Marble Falls\, 1101 Bluebonnet Dr.  At 9:00 am guests are welcome to participate in our Meet and Greet\, with light refreshments\, followed by the 9:30 am membership meeting and program.  Become a member and take advantage of workshops on the third Thursday of the month. Our March 21st featured workshop is “Sea Glass Quilts by Allie McCathren\, Quilted Octopus”.  HLQG is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to continuing the art of quilting and making available many opportunities to support local charities.  Workshops are for members only\, and pre-registration is required.
