DESCRIPTION:Christmas on the Square\n\n\n \nSaturday\, December 9\, 2023\nA spectacular Christmas celebration in downtown Burnet that includes a bicycle giveaway\, snow slide and snow play area\, live holiday entertainment\, over 175 vendors\, a parade at Noon\, and a visit from Santa! This year\, there will also be fun photo ops in various places around the Square. These range from a sleigh (that people can actually sit in for photos) to a giant teddy bear! \n\nSchedule of Events \n12:00 – 8:00pm      Vendor Booths open to the public. Live Entertainment & Christmas Music.\n12:00pm                  Christmas Parade (Registration is free!) – See below for details.\nTime TBA                Snow on the Square\nTime TBA                Photos with Santa and the Grinch – See below for details\n4:30pm                    Bicycle Raffle (child must be present to win) – See below for details.\n5:00 – 8:00pm        Christmas at Old Ft. Croghan (Christmas the way pioneers experienced it)\n6:00 – 9:00pm         Main Street Bethlehem \nChristmas Parade at Noon\nRoute: The parade starts near the Community Center on East Jackson. From there\, it goes down East Jackson\, around the Square\, and then back to the Community Center.\nParade Participant Check-In: Those participating in the parade are asked to check in with Rachael Hausman between 10 and 11am at the corner of Boundary and E. Jackson. She will tell you where to park and give you your number. \nSanta & the Grinch\nDetails to come \nBicycle Registration \nRegistration takes place at the festival on the Square at the Chamber trailer by the stage (on Pierce St) from 12-4. No advance registration will be available this year. Registrations will be cut off at 4pm to allow time to sort the entries into appropriate age groups. All kids aged 2-11  are eligible to enter. The child MUST be present when their name is called in order to win. All winners will be fitted for a free helmet from Ascension Seton Highland Lakes Hospital. \nVendors\nOver 175 vendors will be present. They will fill the parking spots on both sides of the Square and the sidewalk on East Jackson. There will be a food court in a parking lot at East Jackson and Vandeveer St. Downtown businesses with brick & mortar locations on the Square and just off the Square will also be open for business. \nSnow Slide & Snow Play Area\nThere will be a snow slide and snow play area with REAL snow in the newly paved City parking lot on East Jackson just off the Square. A guardian must sign a waiver before children go on the slide. There is no cost to enjoy this fun area. Kids should come early since the snow melts relatively quickly even on cold days.\nTip for Parents: Consider bringing a change of clothes so your kids aren’t cold and wet when they’re done playing. \nEntertainment Schedule\nTBA \nFAQ\nAre dogs allowed?\nWell behaved\, leashed dogs are allowed. \nWhere will restrooms be located?\nPortable toilets for the festival will be located on each corner of the Square and on East Jackson across from the food court. Most retail shops do not have public restrooms because of the old plumbing found in historical buildings.  \nAre online tickets required for Main Street Bethlehem?\nNo. This year\, everyone just waits in line. At times\, this can mean a two hour wait so come prepared! You can shop at vendors lining the street while you wait though. \nWhere is the best place to find food?\nThere will be a food court on East Jackson and Vandeveer\, a short distance from the Square.  \nHow do I get a vendor booth?\nThe earlier that you apply\, the higher your odds of being accepted for next year’s show. The show typically fills up by late October.\nArts & Crafts Vendor Application\nBusiness and Non-Profit Application\nFood Vendor Application\n \nWhere do I find parking?\nThe most parking available will be near East Jackson. Parking is wherever you can find a spot. Be prepared to walk at least a few blocks.  \nIs there handicap parking?\nThere isn’t a handicap parking lot. If you need to drop someone off though\, you can turn onto  S. Pierce by First State Bank of Burnet. You can drop people off and then turnaround using the entrance to that parking lot.

DESCRIPTION:The Burnet County Democratic Club will kick off the 2024 election season with a general membership meeting on Sunday\, January 14\, 2 PM to 4 PM at Texas Tech Highland Lakes\, 806 Steve Hawkins Parkway\, Marble Falls\, Texas. \n“We are beginning 2024 with a meeting to activate\, educate\, and motivate our members and have fun doing it\,” stated Roseann Thornton\, BCDC Vice President. “Please join us to get informed and involved.”  \nBCDC will “activate” by presenting a 2024 calendar template of planned activities and events.  Volunteers will be solicited to plan\, organize\, and execute these activities.    \nThe Club will “educate” with a review of 2023 activities\, financials\, and community impacts.  \nMost importantly\, the club will outline and discuss the upcoming split primary election changes for Burnet County.  How the split primary will affect the poll locations and processes and how we will minimize the consequences.   \nLastly\, BCDC will “motivate” with an opportunity to mingle and discuss your concerns with 2024 primary candidates and county party officials in attendance.   \n“This is a great opportunity to tune in and sync up with us for an outstanding and successful new year\,” stated Guy Stuart\, BCDC President.   \nLite snacks will be provided. DESCRIPTION:Highland Lakes Quilt Guild (HLQG) welcomes in the new year with an attractive line-up of new programs featuring topics on green quilting\, combining paint and textiles\, thread art\, constructing art quilts\, sculpting fabric vessels\, and working with silk.  We are especially pleased to introduce topics on green quilting which include learning tips and techniques on recycling garments and reclaiming fabric for new projects.  HLQG member Novelleen Parker recently created a lovely accent pillow fashioned from a few of her husband’s vintage collection of 100 silk suit ties which range in age from 20 to 40 years. The finished pillow now invokes many happy memories for the Parkers. If you are interested in learning about another green quilting story\, please plan to join us January 17\, for the guild’s Organizational Business Meeting where HLQG member Kathy Rector will present a short talk\, titled Tie Journey; a story that began with a tie and ended with a lavish silk quilt. Highland Lakes Quilt Guild (HLQG) features monthly membership meetings 9:00 am – Noon\, and most every third Wednesday of the month in the Fellowship Hall at the First Methodist Church of Marble Falls\, 1101 Bluebonnet Dr.
